Mere Catholicism

Today the Library in conjunction with the Central Catholic Bookshop was privileged to host Rev. Dr. Ian Ker, who was promoting his latest book Mere Catholicism.

The leading authority on the life and works of John Henry Cardinal Newman, Fr. Ker is respectively lecturer in theology at Campion Hall, fellow of St. Benet's Hall, parish priest of Sts. Thomas More & John Fisher Church, and a member of several distinguished Catholic and scholarly organisations. In coming to the Library, Fr. Ker brough with him a reputation as an affable, entertaining and erudite speaker, which was clearly manifest as he took up where CS Lewis finished in Mere Christianity to present the doctrines of the Catholic Church as natural developments of the basic tenets of Christianity.

A more detailed report will follow but in the interim here are a couple of photos taken from the afternoon featuring Fr. Ker behind the lectern and with Anna Krohn, the Library's manager.
